BRIAN KENNEDY (IRE) with VINCENT'S CHAIR
TRINITY SESSIONS WELCOMES THE RETURN OF BRIAN KENNEDY. Guests VINCENT'S CHAIR. Music 8.00pm Doors 7.30pm
Brian Kennedy- Irish singer/songwriter, internationally-renowned, multi-talented with a phenomenal 22-year career as a radio / TV host and lead performer on international stages from Riverdance on Broadway to Eurovision 2006. Brian’s work with Van Morrison has been well documented. As featured lead singer on the legend’s Blues and Soul Revue he shared stages over that six-year tour with Van and other all-time greats: Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker. That unique Irish Voice can be heard harmonising and answering Van on five of his major hit albums. Throughout the relentless touring with Van Morrison, Brian somehow managed to maintain a stream of chart-making albums. ‘A Better Man’ (1996) and ‘Now That I Know What I Want’ (1999), both went platinum at No.1 and earned him the awards of Irish Best Male Artist and Irish Best Male Album, as did the highly acclaimed ‘Homebird’ (2006) and cover album ‘Interpretations’ (2008). Remarkably Brian also found time to publish 2 fiction Novels that were as instant success and he continues to receive many prestigious awards, including the 2010 Ireland Meteor Lifetime Achievement Award for Music, and an even rarer Honorary Doctorate Degree of Letters by theUniversityofUlster, for his contribution to the Arts.
Brian played Trinity Sessions twice in 2003 and 2004, selling out both shows. It is hard to believe it has been that long. It is very exciting to have Brian back in the perfect venue to hear "a voice to charm the angels".
Exquisitely sensitive, passionate and alluring, Australian group, Vincent’s Chair, creates a music experience that eshews stylistic boundaries. Lyrical compositions reveal unexpected stories couched in honest musicianship. The music includes original jazz standards, but there is also Middle-Eastern inflected pop, folk ballads, light Latin-rhythm tunes and numerous others which defy categorisation. Influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Sting, Paul Simon and Lior, the group produce music, by Kathie Renner, which is elegant and restrained, intimate, personal and meaningful. Their intimate set-up of voice/keyboard, guitar and viola gives perfect balance to the delicate, yet dynamic interplay between musicians, Karen De Nardi (viola), Sam Leske (guitar) and Renner (voice/keyboard), as they draw you into an exquisite journey of the senses.
